Now that I am immersed in this course, I am noticing all this A.T. in my everyday life. When in stores, reading for classes, or scanning social media, I am spotting more and more cool things I think could work for my students. Keep checking back for my latest finds, including tips, tricks and tidbits!

A Writing Task
Since we are fresh off a reading analysis task aimed to have us understand all of the process involved in reading, it reminded me of a task I was asked to complete in another M.Ed class.
Often times we challenge ourselves by writing with our non-dominant hand and will chuckle at the results. Our class was asked to write using different symbols to show how difficult the writing process can be for those who are learning a new language when their mother language uses different symbols, such as Arabic or Mandarin. This can also help us understand what children with dysgraphia feel like when trying to print correctly.
To try this, simply find a sentence in a language using different symbols than in the English alphabet and try to copy it...correctly and with ease. Not as easy as you may think!

Guided Access
Although this was not a find on my own, I wanted to include it on this page incase people are looking here for quick ideas. Guided access, as demonstrated by our professor during class 3, could be a teacher's best friend!
This is a way for teachers, or parents, to disable or block parts of an app. If you do not want a child to exit an app, or get distracted by other parts, they can be disabled in the settings. Genius!
Timers
An effective, inexpensive way to help students who have difficulty with pacing. Also a great way to signify upcoming transitions so students can mentally prepare.

Graphic Organizers
This is one of my go-to resources for all of my students. Especially in junior high, when writing activities can become more detailed, graphic organizers aid students in chunking their work and organizing research and writing... and digitizing the organizers will help reach all students!
